FPA Statements

The Israeli government continues to undermine press freedom. Following the ban on Al-Jazeera and an attempt to shut down an Associated Press video feed, it now targets Israeli outlets, with a resolution cutting state ties to Ha’aretz newspaper and a bill to privatize the public broadcast authority. These moves appear vindictive and politically motivated.

Our primary mission focuses on protecting the interests of reporters working in Israel, the West Bank and/or Gaza Strip who often find themselves overwhelmed or even threatened by the authorities on both sides of the Israeli/Palestinian divide.

Chairperson Tania Kraemer

The current FPA Chairperson, Tania Kraemer, is the Jerusalem-based correspondent and video-journalist for Deutsche Welle for 10 years.
