The Foreign Press Association Statement on the Situation in Gaza [July 25, 2025]

The Foreign Press Association joins the world’s largest news organizations in expressing our deepest concerns about the struggles of our colleagues in Gaza to feed themselves and their families.

Access to food is the most basic human need, and the current crisis – fueled by a strict four-month Israeli blockade – has robbed Gaza’s journalists of this right.

Like other Palestinians, the journalists working for FPA member organizations in Gaza face a daunting task each day to put food on the table.

Throughout the war, journalists have coped with repeated displacement and the constant threat of violence. Now, starvation is a clear and present danger. Despite these abhorrent conditions, our colleagues continue to bravely report the news.

We call on Israel to take immediate steps to ensure the continuous flow of food into Gaza and after countless delays, to open the border to allow journalists to enter the territory independently to report on this devastating conflict.
