Howard Goller
Chairman FPA 1999-2001
Howard Goller reported on war and peace for 18 years from the Israeli-Palestinian front line where he was Reuters Deputy Bureau Chief and served on the FPA board for 12 years, the last two as FPA Chairman championing press freedom with Israeli and Palestinian officials.
In 2001, he moved to London where he worked as an Editor-in-Charge on the Reuters World Desk at the height of the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Asian tsunami, and Islamist bombings in Madrid 2004 and London 2005.
His next posting, in 2006, was to Washington to head Reuters political and general news coverage in the United States and Canada before joining a Reuters start-up tasked with reporting news for lawyers and other professionals.
In 2014, Goller moved to New York to help lead what has become the Reuters Global News Desk, most recently as Editor for Quality & Style.
He reinforced the Reuters Jerusalem Bureau for several months during the war in Gaza from 2023 to 2025.
Educated at Northwestern University and Yale Law School, Kansas City-born Goller taught journalism at New York University’s London program in 2005.
